While a majority of my current creativity is spent in the digital world,
painting and drawing was my first love. My love of color and balance continues to inform all the graphic design work I do today.
My artistic journey started with a childhood fascination for drawing and color, which later expanded to include painting in high school. In college, I earned a Bachelor of Arts, Studio Art from Hannibal-LaGrange University in Hannibal, MO.
While employed with the Quincy Art Center, I was privileged to lead the live figure sessions for many years. The human form continues to be one of the most challenging and most fun subject matter.
This is a master study of Irises, an oil painting by Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. I grow irises myself and I love how there is one white iris among the purples ones.
This chalk pastel drawing was a commission for a dear friend. His family loves having breakfast together each day. It is a time when they can connect and share their plans and hopes for the day.

Christmas is a special time for the The Salvation Army and it was a pleasure to create illustrations of their iconic bell, red kettle, and kettle stands. Drawings were turned into stickers that were given out at the kettles and also as a thank you to volunteers.
The Kroc Center illustrations were a fun project to accompany a branding initiative. See more on the branding page.

Greeting Cards
I hand drew each letter, then used watercolor pencils to build up the color, shapes, and textures. Once perfected, I took digital scans so they could be used on greeting cards and for prints.
